STUDENT LETTERS

Whew!! I am finally finished!!  Got  a little distracted along the way with family issues, but  I have finally finished the course.  Wow!! That was a lot of information to take in, but it was very good information indeed.

This has been a wonderful course and I have enjoyed it very much.  It did get a little frustrating learning how to  narrow things down to get the right codes for the situation, but it was still a very good learning experience.

I highly recommend this course for anyone who desires to be a coder because it challenges you as well as entertains you, as it takes you through practically everything from a to z.

I cannot thank you enough for your patience and willingness to work with me on the time limit of completing this course, and I am looking very forward to trying my hand at professional coding.

Dear Jari,

Thank you for your support in completing the medical coding course.  I am hoping to set up shop in a good Boston hospital in the near future. I have a few interviews set up over the next week.

This is all new to me, but I'm no stranger to hard work and always interested in a challenge.

Over that past three years I have come through 5 fairly invasive foot surgeries; so I have learned to speak the language of surgeons and just about everyone else in the medical world, along the way. I think this is the reason I chose this path.

It's been fun and a pleasure to be involved in your wonderful schooling. Keep up the good work.

Jari and Robin,

I recently found a position working as coder at home and I'm really enjoying it.  I actually received 2 calls for interviews today though!  One of these was for a big hospital here; but I really like my job and you can't beat working at home.  The other call I received was from a company that outsources. I have an interview next week to discuss a coding position.  I really like my job, but I need to find out about this since that is the course I finished with you.  It is a blessing to have choices and not feel stuck just being a secretary (even though choices and change can be difficult).  I am also grateful I have something that is working for me and want you to know that your courses really prepare you!

The person that I spoke with also requested that I send the attached information to a medical coder that would be interested in working in Chester, SC.  She discussed the high demand for coders.  Although I don't know anyone, maybe you do.  I hope all is going well at Meditech.

Subject: Job interview

Hi,

I just wanted to tell you that I went for a job interview this morning at our local hospital.  She was very impressed with the letter of recommendation you wrote.  Thank you.

The interview went very well, and I will know something at the end of the week.  The position is for a medical records clerk, with coding and some billing.  She also wanted to know if I would want to do some transcription when they had extra, (with a mentor/supervisor) even though I am still finishing that course.  It’s my foot in the door, and its very close to my house.

She grilled me on types of codes, and proper books, what to do when your not sure about documentation and HIPPA regulations.  I knew every answer thanks to both the Billing and Coding courses I took.  So, thanks again!

I realize that she has more interviews to go, and I AM the person with the least amount of experience, but I believe that having the Meditech training helped me even get the interview!

I will let you know how it goes.

Hi

Feel free to lift out any of my comments which I have previously sent you as you see appropriate and post to your web site.

So far, so good with my consulting job.  So many things to learn.... but I must say your course has helped me significantly.  I've really been able to hit the ground running in the job because of the background your course gave me... specifically with the overview of coding, understanding the fields on the CMS form, knowledge of electronic claims vs. paper claims, and clearinghouses.  Also the tips on how the insurance companies will try to reject the claims for minor errors were helpful, and to proactively prevent all errors in submissions.  I recruited an administrator without a medical background, and it was a great learning for me... I won't do that again because of the learning curve involved.  At a minimum, I will be recommending your course to others before I will agree to have them help me in the medical billing field.

Take care, and we'll talk soon.  I'm SLOWLY going through the HomeBiz course...

Regards,

Michele

Hello J

Thank you so much for getting back to me so promptly.

I am laughing - with my technical background there is no reason for me to miss a mathematical question on this exam!  I will go back and review it to find the mistake in my logic!!

As I email this, I am drafting up a letter applying for a home-based medical billing-coding position with another company...I thought working for someone else would be a quicker and more efficient way to learn what I need starting out in this field.

I also just FAXed my resume to my children's pediatrician yesterday - he has an opening for a coder in his practice.

I am very excited to begin bringing home an income again.  I will definitely keep you posted on my progress in this field.

I'm only halfway through the HomeBiz book, because my daughter was home sick with me the last two days - real life distracting us from work again!!

It has been a pleasure working with you and Robin these last few months, and I thank you for offering such a down to earth course that was perfect for my needs.

Take care and we will be in touch soon!

Regards,

Michele M

Coding

Hi J,  I GOT THE JOB.  My first coding position.  It is a small account, the hospital usually sees between 12-15,000 patients a year, but it is a start.  Maybe now with a little experience in time I can get more accounts.  I am so happy. THANK YOU AND EVERYONE at MEDITECH.  I will keep in touch and let you know how things are going.

My name is Pat O'M.  I took the Medical Terminology/Coding Course with Meditech a little over a year ago.  I recently sat for the American Academy of Professional Coders Examination and passed on the first try.

As of this date, I have still been unable to secure a coding position. It seems everyone wants someone with experience.  I try to tell them, I sat for the examination with AAPC with no experience(they made an exception for me as they saw how determined I was) and passed but no leads until last evening.

I was wondering if you could help me.  I have a chance to obtain an at-home coding position with one of our hospitals in the Occupational Therapy/Workman's Compensation Department.  I have to go on the interview next week.

I owe my passing the exam on the experience I received from your course.  I sat at the AAPC exam with about 50 people, all with a few years of experience under their belt and they were taking the test for the second and third times.  It was a very hard test. There was 500 questions, exam taking 6 hours.  But I PASSED THE FIRST TIME.

I hope to hear from you soon as I want to read, read, read the right CPT E/M levels until I know them in and out.

Thank you and everyone at Meditech, Corey.  I will let you know if I GET THE JOB.

Assessment Results:

I passed with a 94% on the final exam.

How did you learn about this course:

I didn't even know what Medical Coding was until a friend of mine, who is a Medical Transcriptionist for MedQuist, told me about it. At first I thought I might be interested in transcription. After some research on the internet, I decided I would give Coding a try first. I simply typed in "Medical Coding" and did searches on the internet and reviewed every company I possibly could that trained in that field. First I narrowed it down to the companies that trained at home, that was my first requirement. Next I looked at price. I had it narrowed down to 3 or 4. One of the others was At-Home-Professions. But after checking Better Business Bureau records, your company had the cleanest record. Your company also had one of the nicest websites with lots of important information. Before I enrolled in the course I made one phone call and talked to John (I believe that was his name). He was very helpful.

It was clearly communicated how to start the class: True

I found the instruction to be pleasant and friendly: True

Objectives, outcomes and learning activities were clearly laid out for this class: True

I feel my time online/hard copy was time well spent: True

I got my moneys worth out of this workshop: True, especially if the end result is a job

In the final analysis, the course has some or will affect my life in a more positive way.

After being at home for the past 7 years raising kids, it felt good to challenge my mind and give my brain a good workout. Gives you a feeling of accomplishment and self worth. I can't wait to actually bring in a paycheck to contribute to the household from coding work.

To what extent did your knowledge increase, your skills improve or your attitude change?

I still feel like there's much more to learn. I need lots of practice!!!!  I found the coding to be a bit addicting. When I was on a roll and would get a whole bunch of codes right, one after another, it's like I didn't want to quit. My husband would say, "are you ready to come up for bed?" And I would be like, "Yes, just let me do a few more codes."

To what extent did it provide you a chance for upward mobility at work and career choice

I have been an at-home mother for the past 7 years. I hope this will lead to at-home employment doing medical coding. I will keep you posted on my job hunt.

Other comments/recommendations.

That word association system for learning all the medical terms has really stuck with me. Even more than 10 years later I can recall these word elements and their meanings and the visual image will flash in my mind. I just thought I'd mention that way of learning terminology in comparison to your terminology book. I don't know if you've ever heard of a learning system like that.

:) thank you!!!!!! Your school has been wonderful!! I really enjoy the coding. I want to get really proficient with this and then take either the billing or transcription course with you all next year!!! I'll stay in touch and let you folks know how I do! :) I'M HAPPY!!!!!! Can't wait to get certifications!

Susie

Good Morning J

Wow, I didn't expect to learn my test results for awhile and am very pleased with my grade.  I hate taking tests but I found this one to be "not too bad."

I really enjoyed taking the Medical Billing module and found it to be very "user friendly" in it's approach to educating someone who has a medical background but lacks the "rest of the story" as far as applying that knowledge to billing (like myself).  I am looking forward to completing the other two modules (transcription and coding) in the near future but needed to complete the billing one first.  I will keep in touch and let you know when I need to take the other exams.

You have a very, very good product, Meditech.  Thank you for being here when I needed you.

Debbie

Hi J, remember me? I took your course in Jan/Feb this year, got a great job as Head Coder for an ASC. I took the AHIMA exam for CCA yesterday and passed!  So now I'm certified!  ThanksNext I'm sitting for the AAPC CPC-H exam in August. Just wanted to let you know

Have a great summer!

Hey at Meditech,

I want to thank everyone at Meditech for being so helpful and understanding with me. I plan on recommending this course to anyone who is interested.  As a matter of fact I was talking with a girl who is taking a coding course through AT Home Professions and when I showed her my material she was so impressed with your materials.  She said she wished she had known about Meditech.  I know I am sure glad I found you and took the course with you.  I hope the company that showed me interest will be impressed with my score and will hire me.  Keep your fingers crossed and I will let you know.

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I look forward to receiving my certificate from you.  Again, please convey my thanks to everyone at Meditech.

Sincerely,

Patricia L

Corie,

Thanks for all your help!!  For your records, I am starting work for a medical billing company here in Shreveport, Louisiana.  It is a new company called E-stat Secure Medical Claims.  This test was a prerequisite for my employment there.  Thank you for the great training!!

Hi Jari,

This is Gwenn A, I took your course last year and scored a 97% on the final exam.  I then went on to take the CPC exam from the AAPC.

I did pass!  Thank you for your quality education... it worked for me!  I've done it with your help!  I look forward to hearing from you...am on my first job interview today..will advise

Thanks!

Hi J

I have wonderful news!  Not only did I pass the CPC exam the first time around but I just received notice that I was accepted at The VA Medical Center here in Asheville, NC as an Outpatient Coder with a pay scale that doubles my current pay.  Your course was instrumental in my success and gave me the tools to succeed.  Thank you so much for all your support.  I would recommend your program to anyone, and I already have.  I never dreamed I would get this far and in such a short period of time, but I did and I owe it to ordering your courses, I looked at many different courses online and yours struck me as the best.  Well... I am living proof it works!  I start my new career March 10, 2014 and I can't wait.  This job will change my life and that of my family.  THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER!

Sincerely,

Gwenn A

Hello, I wanted to say I am totally pleased with my learning experience with Meditech's Coding program.  I had been enrolled in another program prior to yours and I can't be more pleased with my decision to switch.  I would highly recommend your programs to anyone.  Thanks for the nice reference letter also.

Sincerely.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know I interviewed & was offered (which I accepted) a great job as head coder for a new Outpatient. Surgical Center. They gave me a coding test, 12 surgical CPTs andI coded every one correctly, thanks to your program I'm sure. Thanks again, I'll be in touch

Hello!

I was the one that found the course.  I was on the waiting list for the Coding program at MATC in Madison & got tired of waiting, so I did a little investigating & found Meditech.  It is helping me in my current job as a patient account specialist, but more importantly, I'm hoping it will get me promoted to Coder I soon.  I would be happy to be a reference.

I do need one more thing if possible.  My manager is thrilled with my results.  Since I am the pioneer here (doing this online)I need to have my score on Meditech letterhead for the higher powers that be.  Would it be possible for you to send or fax that to me?  My fax # at work is.

Bill L.

I really enjoyed the course.  I am not a person who likes to read, but knowing that I did not have to memorize all the material really helped. I think that it is very easy to understand.  I plan to go to work for a hospital or doctor's office to get some experience and then maybe get my own clients and work from home.

Mary M

The course was great. Easy to follow and thorough.  I currently work in a medical office as a receptionist but I wanted to advance in my job so I looked into coding and found your course. I plan on coding full time at some point soon. I have already been offered a job with the physical therapist in our building.

Thank you for your time to e-mail me. I hope to be hearing back from you soon.

Thanks,

 Jennifer G

I'd like to add that the Meditech Coding Course was terrific and I truly enjoyed learning from it.  It was just great - wow! I know that it will serve to help me become an excellent

Medical Coder.  Can't wait to get started in the field.

Gloria

J,

Thank you for responding.  I'm glad to know you got my test answers.

I have already been interviewing for coding positions in physician's clinics.  I have appointments set up with Human Resource contacts at two of our local hospitals to visit about their requirements and to obtain suggestions from them to get the experience I will need to work into the hospital environment.  I will be discussing the possibility of medical records coding clerk and/or claims analyst.

I try to take out all the dates so it never looks stale. Do a search for March 10, 2014 and remove the 2014. It’s from Gwenn A
